Workers' compensation packages changing in Ohio

People go to work every day hoping to make a better life for them and their families. Sometimes, through no fault of their own, their ability to work is hindered by unavoidable hazards in unsafe work environments. Workers' compensation is meant to help those injured in work related activities provide for their families when they can't work and pay for medical expenses incurred as a result of a workplace accident.

Unfortunately, employers aren't always willing to take responsibility when their workers get injured and many make it a lengthy process to submit and get their claims approved. After workers are injured on the job, Ohio employers sometimes feel less than incentivized to help injured employees get back to work. These workers can still provide extremely valuable contributions to the workforce and it is important that employers assist these workers as much as possible.

Now, the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation is trying to make employers more willing to help injured workers return to work and improve safety in the work environment. By offering financial incentives, which the employer can choose from, the government is hoping injured employees will have more opportunities to put their skills to use for their companies. The agency will meet today to vote on the proposed incentive program.

Even with this program, it can seem to be an uphill battle when filling workers' compensation claims. Seeking advice from a knowledgeable workers' compensation attorney could help you navigate through the process and make sure your rights are maintained and you receive the compensation you deserve.
