Worker crushed to death in horrific workplace accident

Unfortunately, a number of tragic accidents have taken place in the state of Ohio in recent months. Recently, a 60-year-old employee of an Ohio Cylinder plant was involved in a terrible workplace accident when he was caught between two large rolls of steel. The accident occurred at Worthington industries whose corporate headquarters is based in Columbus, Ohio. The man did not survive his injuries and died shortly after he was taken to the hospital.

The victim of this accident had been working at the industrial plant for 19 years. He worked in the receiving department of the plant. The industrial workers accident is being investigated by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and also by the company itself. It is unknown at this time whether any safety violations were present at the industrial plant. Worthington industries, a global supplier of pressure tanks and cylinders, recently reported that its June-August net profit rose to 34 million, from $25.7 million a year earlier. Although the cause of this accident is unknown, no company should ever place profits over the safety of employees.

Anyone injured in a workplace accident is entitled to receive compensation for loss of wages, as well as medical expenses, by filing a workers' compensation claim. Injured employees are also entitled to additional benefits if they are temporarily or permanently disabled as a result of workplace accidents.

In this tragic case, the deceased worker's family is likely entitled to seek death benefits from the Ohio workers' compensation system. These include reimbursement for funeral and medical expenses. Additionally, when victims of fatal job-related accidents leave behind any dependents, they should be eligible to receive dependent death benefits through the workers' compensation system.
