Ohio construction worker seriously injured when hit by car

Construction work can be treacherous. Often, these workers trust motorists to obey reduced speed limits, be aware of flaggers, and move over when construction workers are on the road. Unfortunately, as seen by a recent Braceville incident, all too often mistakes happen and a worker is injured.

There, an 18-year old construction worker, who was flagging traffic, was injured when he was hit by a tow truck. Police state the driver hit the worker when he glanced down at an electronic tablet. The worker was flown to the hospital to be treated for serious injuries.

Workplace accidents happen all the time, and pose a real risk of harm to workers. An accident may leave a worker with a physical impairment that requires extensive medical care and prevents him from working. Together, the lost wages and the compounding medical bills can send the injured worker spiraling into depression and a feeling of hopelessness.

These problems may be solved if a worker can file a successful workers' compensation claim. Workers' compensation is insurance carried by an employer to compensate workers who are injured on the job. Unfortunately, many times an employer or an insurer will deny a workers' compensation claim, leaving the worker in a dire situation. Those who find themselves in these circumstances should not hesitate to contact a competent, experienced Ohio attorney who will fight for the worker's rights.

An experienced workers' compensation attorney can challenge an employer or insurance's denial of a claim and can seek to establish that the victim's injuries resulted from an accident within the scope of his employment. Once an argument succeeds, the worker may be entitled to awards for his medical expenses, lost wages, and permanent injuries. Then, the worker can focus on reaching a full recovery and getting on with his life.
