Dayton police officer involved in I-75 construction zone crash

What is the difference between the BWC and MCOs?

The Bureau of Workers' Compensation is a state government agency that is responsible for Ohio's workers' compensation system. The BWC makes decisions regarding claim allowances and benefit payments. In opposition, Managed Care Organizations are private companies that are selected or assigned to each state-funded Ohio employer. The purpose of the MCO is to manage the employer's workers' compensation claims. The MCOs coordinate medical care and make treatment decisions.

If my injury is my employer's fault, can I sue my employer?

Generally, you cannot sue your employer, even if the employer was at fault for your injuries. Ohio law provides employers with immunity from lawsuits by their employees, if the employers are participating in the Bureau of Workers' Compensation program. Therefore, if you wish to be compensated for your injury, you must file a workers' compenstaion claim.

Ohio workers' compensation agency to crack down on pain-pill use

Medications that relieve pain can be important to an injured worker's recovery, but that relief can sometimes lead to abuse of the prescribed drugs. The Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation is trying to make sure that the drugs dispensed to injured workers do not lead to addictions.
