Ohio nurse ordered to pay back worker's compensation benefits

Ohio plastic company hit with $86,000 in fines

Recently, an Ohio plastic company was the subject of an investigation by the Occupational and Safety Health Administration. The company, Berry Plastics Corp, located in Monroeville, was investigated to determine whether there was adequate safety present in the plant so as to avoid workplace accidents from arising in the future.

Ohio Supreme Court denies lawsuit of injured worker

In the state of Ohio, virtually all workers are protected by workers' compensation laws when they are injured on the job. These protections exist even when the injured worker is at fault for the accident. However, Ohio employers are also protected from lawsuits under the Ohio workers' compensation system. Sometimes, however, a workplace accident is so egregious the injured worker may attempt to sue its' employer based on the theory of intentional torts.

Created by engineers at a university, the tool is a video surveillance system that uses a computer to examine employee hand movements in video recordings. The tool may assist employers to predict and lessen the likelihood of workplace injuries related to repetitive motions.
