What is “Maximum Medical Improvement”?

by Kara Dolan-West | Sep 15, 2014 | Workers' Compensation

What this means is that MMI occurs when further improvement to the injured worker’s recovery is unlikely, despite ongoing medical treatment or rehabilitation. Once a physician determines that MMI has been reached, the BWC will terminate the injured worker’s Temporary Total (TT) compensation (that is not to say that TT compensation cannot be re-filed for in the future, however). It is important to understand that when MMI has been determined, any medical treatment or physical rehabilitation the injured worker needs to maintain his or her condition may continue in their claim.
