If you have been injured in a work accident or suffered an occupational disease, your children may be eligible to apply for monetary scholarships to assist with college expenses.
Kids’ Chance of Ohio is a charitable organization that provides scholarships to children of parents who have been deemed permanently and totally disabled or killed as a result of a workplace injury of occupational disease. The scholarship applicants must be between sixteen (16) and twenty-five (25) years of age. The scholarships are not exclusive to those children applying to college. You may be eligible to earn a scholarship even if you are applying to a vocational or trade school and junior college or community college.
This type of scholarship is completely separate from survivor benefits, and is meant to help those children impacted due to a parent suffering a severe workplace injury or death.
A recipient may use the funds to cover tuition, books and room and board. The scholarships are available annually and can range from $100 to $5,000.00.
